The Department of Materials Science and Resource-Saving Technologies (MSRT) was transformed from the Department of Engineering and Technical Training and has existed since 1990. The department is a graduating department in the specialty 1-36 01 04 — «Equipment and technologies for highly efficient material processing processes», specialization — «Equipment and technologies for increasing wear resistance and restoring machine parts»; 6-05-0714-02 «Mechanical engineering technology, metal-cutting machines and tools».

The department provides training at the second stage of training in the specialty 7-06-0714-02 «Innovative technologies in mechanical engineering».

According to the list of disciplines assigned to the MSRT Department, the teachers of the department provide training in 38 disciplines. The educational and scientific processes at the department are actively connected with production. Highly qualified specialists from industrial enterprises are involved in the work as faculty members in supervising course and diploma projects. The faculty of the department constantly improves their professional qualifications by participating in scientific and technical symposia and seminars, and prepares for the publication of teaching aids and monographs.

The academic load of the department branch includes supervision of course and diploma projects, the scientific supervisors of which are leading specialists from enterprises, as well as technological and design and technological practices. A research laboratory is located on the premises of the branch, and meetings of the State Commissions for the defense of diploma and master’s theses, and passing state examinations in the specialty and specialization are also held.

The Department of MiRT has established close ties with leading enterprises of the Grodno region and the Republic of Belarus: Belvtorpolimer OJSC, Belkard OJSC, Tsvetlit ChUP, BelTAPAZ OJSC, Soligorsk Institute of Resource Saving Problems with Pilot Production CJSC, etc. Cooperation with leading enterprises provides an opportunity for practice-oriented training of students in the specialty (conducting technological and design-technological practices, completing coursework and diploma papers with the involvement of leading specialists from enterprises).

The Department interacts with personnel customers: Belkard OJSC, Tsvetlit UP, Belvtorpolimer OJSC, Moulder LLC, Bigan JV CJSC, BelTAPAZ OJSC, Radiovolna OJSC, Grodno Mechanical Plant OJSC.
